Workshop Tip: Replacing pistons is a very serious intervention in the engine. Before installing a new STD size piston, absolutely check the condition of the cylinder walls (liners) for ovality, deep scratches, and micrometric wear. If the liner is worn beyond the allowable service limits, simply installing a new nominal piston will not restore proper compression and will lead to excessive oil consumption in a short time. Always use new piston rings with the correct end gap, as well as new pins and retainers. Before the final assembly of the power unit, make sure that the oil channels are perfectly clean.
